Concept board, final designs, flats, and sketches for a 6 look ready-to-wear design assignment at RISD, Spring 2014.
Inspired by the likes of Amelia Earhart, Jane Goodall, Rosie the Riveter, and all the courageous and adventurous female icons of the twentieth century, the collection interprets this inspiration with comfortable, practical layered tops and trouser separates in the most classic materials and palette.

Concept board evoking the inspirational people, colors, and spirit of Amelia pre-Fall 2015.
The base palette of the collection (rich leather brown, grey, and shades of white) reference the neutral colors of men’s uniforms, and the masculine environments where Earhart, Goodall and others achieved excellence. Warm ochre yellow in the collection makes reference to Earhart’s iconic aircraft and the sunny optimism of determined female pioneers. The addition of indigo blue and rich crimson hues complete a rich and subtle take on the primary color palette, which pairs with fine, straightforward materials - including supple glove leather, softly distressed denim, and cotton corduroy - to reinforce the ultra cool back-to-basics aesthetic of the collection.

Who is Amelia, the wearer of this collection? Perhaps she is a sun-kissed, self-confident adventurer – a photojournalist, whose passion for her work takes her around the globe. She is a stylish-, never fussy dresser. She throws on her clothes, packs her suitcase, grabs her camera and catches the early train to her next destination.
Her slouchy boyish “Amelia Fit” trousers are sexy, comfortable, and require only the most straightforward care. Drop-shoulder stretch-knit and rayon tops – cool feminine takes on traditional male dress shirts - stay fresh and unwrinkled despite long plane rides and flatter the figure.
Amelia is always on the move, always effortlessly striking, striding by in a vision of supple leather and classic corduroy, wild golden hair flowing behind her.
