Tundra Knitwear 2015

A knitwear collection combining fully-fashioned and cut and sew, inspired by the color and quiet of the Tundra, and the Japanese aesthetic principle of wabi-sabi.

"Wabi-sabi" is world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection, beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete."
Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetryasperity (roughness or irregularity), simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy, and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes.
Mood board and needle felting sample. Features Japanese pottery, atmospheric images, and muse Marion Cotillard.
In-progress drape.
Featuring modeling by the beautiful and talented:
Julia Englhardt (fully fashioned machine knit pile coat) & Alice McDonald (cut & sew pleated wool skirt and silk jersey top)
Finished coat with handmade loop closures. Weighing down the hem!
